[Damn] This Desert Air create big, booming, melodic rock wide in its breadth, sound and scope. Injected with heavy space riffs [think Oceansize, Cave In, Failure] with a foundation of post-hardcore [think Far, Quicksand], [Damn] This Desert Air are finding an audience who not only desire a thick, full blast of sound, but also attention to dynamic detail in their music. Creating memorable songs that also have a few left turns are what make [D]TDA stand firmly on their feet.
For Immediate Distribution: The time has come to pay tribute to one of the 90’s most influential yet criminally overlooked bands, HUM. Pop Up Records, a independent label operating from deep within the space rock scene is searching for bands that are heavily influenced by the iconic HUM to round out the line-up for an official tribute album set for release in 2011. Hailing from Champaign- Urbana, IL , HUM released several albums throughout the 90’s, both independently and with the major label RCA. Their break out hit “Stars” catapulted the band into the limelight for a brief period, but the band has always remained an underground phenomenon. Their music combines the shimmering layered guitars of space rock with elements of grunge and post-punk for a timeless sound that was unique and refreshing.
Several bands have already been confirmed for the HUM tribute album including: Funeral For A Friend, The Esoteric, [Damn] This Desert Air, and Anakin. If you are interested in being part of the tribute, please have your representation/label send an e-mail to:humtribute@popuprecords.com with your band’s information and a few words on HUM’s influence on your music.

01/17/10 Pop Up Records is bursting open with an important announcement for 2010. After contributing a vital track on The Nurse Who Loved Me: A Tribute To Failure compilation issued on Pop Up in late 2008, we'd like to more formally welcome New Jersey's [Damn] This Desert Air to the family with their upcoming, incredible Distance Waits EP. Nothing short of a majestic journey through thick and thin, [Damn] This Desert Air command to be heard universally by the audio they've constructed with pounding attention. Both heavy and poignant yet at the same time delicate, lush and personal, Distance Waits is saturated with equal parts distortion and otherworldly effects and is exactly the kind of mini-album we'd like to expand our roster of fine audio with. We at Pop Up Records couldn't be more pleased with a release by [D]TDA April 27th, 2010.
