Our first child sponsorship comes from the country of Ghana. Clara and her family live in a small village where she attends primary school, which is within 30 minutes of her home. They live in a house made of unfired mud bricks and a corrugated metal roof.
While she's currently healthy and free from serious illness, there's always risk involved with these kinds of living conditions. Her and her family obtain water from rivers, streams or springs within walking distance from their home, and only have a hole in the ground which is used as their bathroom.
So, next time you feel antsy because the long line at Starbucks is keeping you from your grande half fat decaf no foam caramel macchiato, step back, take a deep breath and maybe consider reassessing your priorities.
