Before we turn into Stepford wives listen to Charm Wrestling, the debut album from Summer Blanket. Soak up the regret and heartbreak of Keith Michaud's voice as it glides over the dystopia of South Florida; with it's achingly beautiful, blissful rock and pastoral hues of something straining to break out of this water logged state. Broward County New Times named Charm Wrestling best album of the past 12 months in 2004 and in 2005 name Keith songwriter of the year. Charm Wrestling was a deeply personal collection of intimate folk-tinged tunes, yet when Keith and company took to the studio the second time around, they went in search of something bigger.
Michaud and his merry band of musicians held themselves up for three weeks, once again in Matt Cohen's Morning Drinker Studios in Pompano Beach, Florida. What came out of the sessions was nothing short of astonishing. Gone are the intimate folk tunes, but what remains is the personal intimacy of the lyrics and delivery. We think that Whisper Louder speaks volumes.
“The Nurse Who Loved Me: A Tribute To Failure” is all around triumphant. This album pays tribute to one of the greatest bands of the 90s and the legacy they‘ve left the musical world. There are few bands that deserve a tribute more so than Failure, as they have defined a mighty sound, that has remained so influential to so many bands, in numerous different ways.
