Eric Mingus "Child as a target"

Eric Mingus was born in New York. He grew up through a maze of twists and turns, some musical, some just bizarre. There was the teenage gig as a lighting and stage director for a "Borscht Belt" resort hotel, an early stint as an amateur boxer, and of course, three months spent as house martini mixer in the boardroom of the Old Grandad whiskey company. Child As Target

Whirlaway "Strangeplanes"

Whirlaway rose from the ashes of another South Florida outfit in the mid '90s called Dour, which included Steve Copeletti, Matt Cohen, and Adam Rosenberg. Rosenberg was originally a supplemental guitarist and backup vocalist, but later took over the lead vocals after their first singer left. Copeletti then brought in old high school friend Mike Johnson on bass. The revamped lineup decided on its new moniker: Whirlaway. While there were dedicated fans of dreampop/shoegaze around the world who came across these gents, the band's primary fan base was confined to its native Florida. Here, we present to you two tracks from the ultra-limited edition and final release, Pompano. With sheets of feedback and soft lush vocals, these tunes come highly recommended for fans of My Bloody Valentine, Ride, and Spacemen 3.

Dan Bryk "We Don't Care"

"Gemlike acts of idiosyncratic genius... proof of just how exaggerated reports of song's demise remain." - Robert Christgau, Village Voice

Dan Bryk presently resides in his adoptive home of Raleigh, NC, working on a number of projects: a discursive "concept" album titled "Pop Psychology" to be released very soon. "Forget You", an EP preview of the as yet-untitled "next album" of giddy, confessional pop confections; and "If I Were You", a lovingly recorded, solo acoustic/electronic album of obscure covers he has been gently overdubbing for a few years now.

Dan has performed sideman duties with the likes of Spookey Ruben and the American Flag. Here, he contributes astounding two indie pop gems to our singles club.
